Some young hear the opening mass of the 12 World Youth Day held 19 August on the Champ de Mars standing on the Eiffel Tower. Some 300,000 pilgrims attended the mass, braving sweltering heat, and more than 300 people claimed the help of the medical stations. A crowd of expected 300,000 faithful will welcome Pope John Paul II 21 August on this site.
