France - Vallauris Corrida Vallauris 1955 Pablo Picasso and jean Cocteau world Exlusive . 40th anniversary of the death of Pablo Picasso unpublished pictures The Traverso family, photographers from one generation to the next, have been living in Cannes for nearly 70 years. They made thousands of clichйs at Cannes festivals, great cultural events, bullfights, openings and previews. Henri Traverso, a photographer in Cannes and Vallauris, used to work for great art galleries and the Gallery 65 and Madoura, among them. Henri Traverso met Pablo Picasso and Jean Cocteau at a preview. From one preview to another, Henri Traverso and Pablo Picasso got closer and closer. Pablo asked Henri to make photos regularly in his galleries or more unofficial ones in his house at Vallauris, or in his new house in Cannes (the California Villa). And among others, there is a series of clichйs on which Pablo sits by a Dauphine (a gift for his ceramist Mr. Ramie); another series of clichйs with his children Claude and Paloma; and also at many bullfights and relaxing moments at Felix’s (Pablo’s favourite restaurant), and even on the beach. In order to thank him for his work, Pablo Picasso offered Henri Traverso a big painting. Unluckily, that painting got lost in one of the many removals. Gilles Traverso, Henri’s son, who is himself a photographer, has entrusted us his clichйs which have never been published. Those unpublished photos show Picasso in his daily life, with his family, his friends (Jean Cocteau, among them), at formal events (Cannes festivals), but also with his wives. Henri Traverso’s photos
