Ingrid Bergman was called back to the stage ten times after playing the role of St. Joan in Arthur Honneger's "St. Joan at the stake" at La Scala, Milan, April 21, 1954. Her first appearance in the non-singing opera role was at the San Carlo theatre in Naples last year. Stage director of the performance was Roberto Rossellini, Ingrid's husband.
